C. Milton Neeley is an award winning artist and welder. Born and raised in Utah, Milt is the oldest of six children. He attended Weber State University in Ogden, and received a bachelor’s degree in economics, and minored in Asian Studies. After graduating from the university, he and some family members bought a metal fabricating business that did ornamental railings, gates, and doors. At the same time he started designing and building Christmas and wedding decorations. During the busy season, he had up to 20 employees, and shipped designs all over the United States and to foreign countries.
Milt’s interest in artistic design using metal blossomed, and he began doing architectural projects that included a children’s garden in Norfolk, Virginia; a curved staircase with glass railing for the Davis Medical Center in Layton, Utah; and other artistic commercial endeavors.
Milt does his own drawings and fabricating. On the commercial end, he is currently building cemetery ornaments and markers out of stainless steel, and has a pry bar that he sells to cemeteries to lift headstones. He also creates works of art using metal, and his work has been shown, among other places, at the Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, where he has won several awards for his sculptures; the Contemporary Art Gallery in Salt Lake City; the Bountiful Art Center, where he won the chairman's award during the handcart art competition; the Outdoor Sculpture Contest in Coalville, where he received the People’s Choice award; and the Ogden Art Festival, where he won first place for Western themed art. He has displayed art at many other venues and has won many awards.
